Hiking weekend in Gauertal - rain rain rain

It is unbeliveable. 1 week ago it was sunny and more than 38 degrees (C) in the shadow, and when I go hiking? Of course it is raining... This time with the football team. We stayed in the Gauertalhütte for 2 nights, a really nice little hut and especially the food was amazing :). Saturday it cleared up late morning and we hiked till 6pm in heavy rain. Now I know that my softshell jacket stays dry for 2 hours... ;)
I have been in the area (Lindauer Hütte, Rätikon) some years ago. Nice hiking area close to mountains calld "the three towers" at the border Austria-Switzerland.
Sunday it was heavily raining. So we went directly back to the car :(. Not the nicest shots, but a couple are ok.

Hiking trip to Hoher Kasten in Switzerland

From back home I can see the Alpstein-massif when it is a clear day on the other side of the lake but I never went hiking there, because it is much closer to go to Austria. But that did change last weekend. The forecast was good, but sadly there were clouds all over. The (very expensive!) cable car trip to the top was through clouds and from the top there was nothing to see but clouds... The mountain is below 2000meters but very high up the Rhine valley. The trip back took 6-7 hours with a big loop to Saxerlücke and Bollenwees and a lots of ups and even more downs... When the weather is nice the views are great. To one side the Rhine valley and the Austrian alps to the other side the swiss alps and to the north the Lake of Constance. But the view was bad only in the afternoon it cleared up. Hopefully it will be better for the next trips...

Hinking trip to the Zamangspitze (Hochjoch area)

Finally, the first hiking trip this year. Reason for the late start was the bad weather at the weekends, but this did not change this time.
Destination was the Hochjoch area (Schruns) in Austria famous for Skiing. When the weather is nice and the view is good it is an amazing trip with great views, but clouds were all over. At least it did not rain. Starting point was the Mountain Restaurant Kapell. From there a steep path went up to the Wormser Hütte. It is not possible to hike up to the Hochjoch peak but there were 2 peaks Kreuzjoch (2398m) and Zamangspitze (2387m) - we hiked both. The way back was called Seeweg (Lakeway) with 5 little lakes.
