In and above the fog - Meersburg and Birnau

I have not tested my new Lens (Sigma 35 mm 1.4) yet so it was about time. The morning started foggy in Meersburg. I did some pictures at the ferry harbor. Visibility was really bad just about 50 Meters. Later I went to Birnau where the sun was out and the fog was just on the lake. Sadly it was not possible to see the Mountains, too dizzy...

Heiligenberg

Still I am struggeling with that Virus (for far too long now...) so instead of flying to London I stayed back home. At least the weather is nice now so I am doing some very short walks which should help getting fit. One of those walks I did in Heiligenberg, a very nice location with a castle overlooking the whole Bodensee area.


Not a perfect sunset but the view was nice and quite clear.

One night in Heidelberg

Still the weather is the same. It is freezing cold with wind and rain or even snow. Christmas was warmer than Easter, crazy winter... Well the Hotel was booked so of course we did go. Actually we got a bit lucky with the weather. It did not rain, and the sun did come out for some seconds. But it was freezing cold... Still there were a lot more Tourists (especially Asian) than it seems on the pictures.
The Hotel was between the trainstation and old City, very good location if you come by train. I have been a couple of times to Heidelberg before so I knew where to go. The view from the Castle is great, also on the other side from the Philosophenweg. Due to the weather I mostly did black and white shots.
In the evening I did some shots at the Old Bridge, they came out quite nice. Next time we come back the weather has to be better!

Waiting for the summer

After having the flu (I was in bed for two weeks) and an endless recovery I was finally fit to take my camera and take some pictures in Unteruhldingen at the Pfahlbauten eary in the morning and Friedrichshafen midday together with Thomas. After not using the camera for some weeks it does still work ;). The weather sucks at the moment - cold windy... I really look forward to the summertime. Here are some black and white pictures I took today.

Birthday in Budapest

For my 30th birthday I couldn't stay at home, I had to go travelling somewhere for the weekend. All destinations where it is warm are too far away so the choice was a city trip Budapest - good flights times and a very good hotel (Intercontinental) with fantastic views for a very good price.
Budapest is famous for all the termal baths. At my birthday we went to Szechenyi Termal Bath, a big complex with lots of indoor and outdoor pools and stayed there for hours. Really recommendable. The advantage in January is that there are no crowds in the city - Restaurants, Cafes etc. - all empty. Without reservations we could go to the nicest restaurants during the weekend. Especially on one of the ships on the Danube the food was very good.
Of course I took my photo equipment and the tripod was useful. During the day the weather was not that good, the last day it even snowed quite a lot. But in the evening it got very colorful with all the lights, especially with the world famous Chain Bridge, the Castle and Parliament.
Also nice was a walk over the big market (indoor) which is a little touristy but still there were lots of locals around to buy meat or vegetables.
Altogether we stayed for 3 nights which was just enough for a visit.
