Macro Photography

The forecast for today was good, but again it was foggy almost all day long. The sun came out later the afternoon, but it did not get clear. So I took my macro lens and drove up the Gehrenberg (Markdorf) to take some macro pictures in the forest.

Meersburg + Lake Constance

After 2 weeks of rain the weather finally turned nice and with the beginning of fall the temperatures got up to 20 degrees. Hope this will stay like this for the next weeks. Saturday we went on a little 3 hours trip on the lake (with coffee and cake) and simply enjoyed the sun.

Today in the late afternoon the view got really good and I took my cam once again to take some pictures in and around Meersburg.

Dorniermuseum Friedrichshafen

I wanted to go to the Dornier Museum for quite a while. Now I found time and it was worth it. Good way to spend a rainy day (except the outside area where are some airplanes). The museum shows a lot of history about the airplanes and the history of the company. I even flew with one type of the planes (Dornier 228) in Nepal some years ago (which has crashed last year...).
Again it was time to play a little around with the 35 1.4 lens.

Hiking in the Dolomites

After not having much holidays this year my holiday season starts with a 5 day trip to the Dolomites. Destination was Cortina d'Ampezzo famous as winter destination but also in summer for hiking, especially the Drei Zinnen area which is just a short (but expensive) drive away

From Meersburg it took about 4,5 hours to get to the Pragser Wildsee to have a little break after the drive before continuing to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Our hotel was 10 Minutes away above the city in Pocol (Sport Hotel Pocol) from where you have great views of the Dolomites.

Sadly breakfast started only at 8am. If you want to go hiking and start early this is quite late. Well after a good breakfast we drove up to the Passo Giau from where we hiked east to get to the famous Cinque Torri. Unlike in Austria the hiking signs are not really good, especially if you have no map. The hiking book sucked, so the next day I had to buy a map... Still with a little asking and a hand written map we found the way back :)

The next day we drove up to the Drei Zinnen. It is not possible to drive there completely but close. The last 5 kilometers the street fee was more than 20 Euros. They know how to make money... You drive up to 2350m. From there the famous hike goes to the Drei Zinnen Hütte in about 2 hours (with photo stops). Weather was not good but it cleared up during the day. Following the way though the "Lange Alm" the way lead around the Drei Zinnen back to the parking. On the way back we stopped at a little lake called Lago Antorno to get Pizza :).

The fourth day we changed Hotels to drive a little more South West. First stop was a gondola station at the Passo Falzarego to be lazy and take the gondola up to Lagazuoi at 2733m. Later we drove to Alleghe at a little lake where we stopped. Final destination was Nova Levante. The Hotel (Hotel Adler) was not at the best location directly at the street, but the rooms were not noisy and service and food was amazing!! From here we did a little tour to the Karersee (Lago di Carezza) to take some pictures.

The final day we just drove back. It was not the best weather and a long drive. Altogether we drove 1050 km. Definitely I will come back. Great nature, great mountains (but many tourists...). On my homepage are some more pictures.
